What is your question?
I had the fuel injection service at 24,000. I was told I needed this done by the dealer after my oil change. So, how often is this service needed? I now have 49,000 miles on my Avalon.

I don't think you ever need a fuel injection service on a modern car. Back in the 1980's and '90's it was a useful service but unnecessary now due to advances in fuel and injector design. The service writers at the dealerships make big bonuses on injector services so they will recommend them. I've been a mechanic for 40 years and I say you don't need injector services anymore. Sorry guys, but it's true. I do recommend, maybe once a year, add a bottle of Fuel Injector Cleaner with Techron, you can get it commonly and it's made by Chevron or Standard Oil. I get mine at Costco, if you have one near you, check there. That stuff is good and I use it. It's much cheaper than a dealer injector service and all you'll ever need for happy injectors.
I'm with Bob 99% -- (ok, not with the "big bonuses" part...however, it's true - Bob is getting at the fact that many shops give incentives to their folks to sell this kind of service...) The only place i'd differ is perhaps on a much higher mileage vehicle. But either way - fuel injection service is in no way shape or form needed every 25,000 miles. No way.
The fuel injector service should be perform depending on how your vehicle is performing/running . it also depend on were you get gasoline, low grade gas does not have enough detergent to keep injector running clean. It is a preventive maint. item. There are two types of fuel injection services performed by automotive shops. One is run off the engine vacuum, it is a three step kit and we charge 70 dollars parts and labor for this. The other type is where the fuel pump is disengaged and the car actually runs off the fuel injector cleaner, this is more thourough, we charge 120.00 for this. The car is already at the dealer, so I would just pay the 25.00 more if they are using that kit and be done with it. As far as that stuff you buy and put in the tank for ten dollars.
Thanks so much for your help and quick response. I say yes to everything and my husband always says the dealers need to add things on.
