What is your question?
I was given an estimate of $385 to replace bushings that were split. The work has been done and I assume the bill is within reason. The labor was 5X the cost of the parts. When looking underneath the car I can't see where the bushing are and it doesn't look like anything was done since all the soot and dust has not been disturbed but my wife says the car is riding better. Not sure what is going on.

The lower control arms are the bottom suspension prices on your 2003 Toyota Avalon. They connect the lower part of the steering knuckle (that is the vertical piece behind the wheel) to the vehicle frame. The bushings are at the connection to the frame and are fairly well hidden from view. Depending on the suspension design there are one or two mounting locations on the frame on each side of the vehicle, one bushing at each location. The place to look to see if the work has been completed would be the bolts that mount the control arms to the frame. Look for wrench marks on the bolt heads and nuts.
