What is your question?
I have been having an issue with smoke coming out of my tailpipe on startup for over a year now and was wondering what was causing it. I'm not sure if it is blue or white smoke because it all looks the same to me. I heard there might have been a recall from Toyota or that they would fix the problem for free if I took it in. I just don't know what is going on.

If the smoke is gray, it is typically valve seals. If the smoke is black or really dark, then it could be an injector leaking. Unfortunately, the color or shade is important to knowing which way to lean. Does the vehicle run rough at all when first started?
It is not dark at all. I would say in my novice opinion it is white. It runs just fine. I just get embarrassed from the smoke. Its weird because it doesn't happen all the time but it happens several times a week. I don't know if it makes a difference but I have noticed that in the morning it is sometimes hard to turn the car until it has been running for a little while.
If it is a white smoke, then that is an indicator that coolant could be getting into the cylinders. However, if you aren't having overheating issues or sluggish running of engine, then you aren't dealing with that most likely. Our best opinion without seeing the car is that you are probably seeing a light gray smoke and have some valve seals that are bad. Not a big issue, but over time smoking will probably get more consistent and eventually burn out plugs.
So how much would repairs cost on average
