door switch for interior lights doesn't always work in cold weather. Suggestions

The interior light switch/button for the door also turns off the headlights after opening the drivers door (engine shut off) but in the colder months it doesn't work all the time which has lead to my battery being drained. It doesn't feel sticky to push the switch/button in and it doesn't seem to get stuck either. But it is fickle about turning the lights off. So during colder months I have to either turn the lights off myself or remember to tap the button as I am getting out of the car. That's all it takes is a light tap to turn my light off using the door switch. Anyone else experience this?
