What is your question?
The car (175K miles on it)shifts smoothly through the first 3 gears, but when it reached 50-62 MPH, it "clunks" it's way into and out of OD until the car reaches ~62 MPH. Then it shifts into OD and works fine in high MPH. But if I decel back to the 50-62 MPH range and then accelarate again it goes through the same hesitancy. The mechanic replaced the torque converter, still happens. He tried injector fluid thinking it was a gas issue, still happens. Help please!

I was having the exact same problem with my 2002 4-runner with 145k on it. Thought it was transmission problem. Took it to mechanic friend who called his "transmission guy". The guy said to change plugs, wires and boots and call him back if not fixed. Changed plugs, wires and boots.....problem gone. Much relieved!
You nailed it. The problem was solved when they checked the spark plugs and one of them had a crack in the porcelain and was shorting out. They changed out the plugs and the car works fine. How this works and why it only happened when it was 50-62 MPH I have no clue, but I'm happy with the result.
