i just got this 4runner,would like to know where to start with maintence

It depends on mileage and any records of previous maintenance. I would start with a Multi Point Inspection and a repair shop to determine if there are any points of failure that need to be addressed. Such as failed seals and gaskets, engine codes, weak or failed suspension and steering components. I would first address any safety concerns. Like ball joints, wheel bearings or any other component that would disable the vehicle. From a maintenance point of view and assuming no documents of prior maintenance. I would test fluids like brake fluid, coolant, oil and transmission fluid to see what is no longer optimal for the vehicle. And replace any failed fluids. I would inspect plugs to see if they need to be replaced, if there is a fuel filter, I would replace it. Check the air filter. Oil change of course. Next stage after those would look at transfer case fluid if 4X4 and replace rear differential fluid.
