What is an average cost to repair the front-end differential?

My labor guide for some reason doesn't give a time to replace the front diff but say there are two different types of differential which from the dealer would cost between $1600 to $2000. I can only guess it's a 2.3 to 3 hour job to pull out the old diff and install the new differential..
