where is the turn signal flasher relay located?

The book probably correct. I don't know why but flashers usually hard to find on most vehicles. You may want to replace your turn signal bulbs front and back to be safe first if you can't find. You would have to have one bulb out on each side of truck though for all turn signals to go out.
