You could have a power steering hose o-ring sucking air or there is not enough power steering fluid in the system. If the system has run low on fluid you should fill the tank. Then jack the front end off the ground and turn the steering wheel back and forth at least 25 - 30 times with the car off. That is probably not why your car isn't starting or idling well tho. Drive the car up a steep hill. Does the hill cause the engine to struggle or stall? If it does then you could have a clogged fuel filter. If your vehicle has fuel injection, you can check the injector by using a screwdriver or mechanics scope. The injectors will make a clicking sound if working. If it doesn't make a sound it might be a bad injector. It could also mean a failure in the circuit that controls the fuel injector. It could also be the Ignition Control Module, idle control motor that controls the air mixture. If your car has a distributor, you might consider changing the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. I would hook the car up to an OBD scanner if the check engine light is on.
