the transmission is stuck in park. Why or what can I do to get it out of park

check the brake light switch.may be out of alignment,plunger broken or just a bad switch. safety feature,won't shift out of park in case the other side of the switch won't turn the brake lights on when driving and the brake pedal is pushed.
