No acceleration when pedal is pushed AL the way down. Never ran out of gas or had this problem

Hello, This scenario has played out many times. The first thing to check is the fuel filter, as any sediment in the gas tank is now inside the fuel filter. Is your check engine light coming on?
First thing would be> not to run it low on gas, much less EMPTY,OUT,DRY,NONE PERIOD! fuel must cover the fuel pump at all times because that is what keeps the fuel pump motor cool, lubricated, and running efficiently.by running the tank low on fuel or empty and to the point of running it ALL the way out of fuel makes the fuel pump motor work harder, making the little motor run hot,and will in some cases burn the motor out at that time.Yes,you might have got lucky and clogged the fuel filter as stated in casey40510's answer, but i'm not even sure if your vehicle has an external fuel filter? it may be inside the tank, part of the module assembly? that fuel pump assembly for your vehicle is over $600.00 for a good Delphi Assembly, if you buy it and do all the work yourself! you stated in your question that you " Never ran out of gas or had this problem" and you won't ever have the problem again IF,you do this from now on>when the gas hand gets on 1/4 tank, consider that as EMPTY,go fill it up! you will probably take this as a smart a-- answer, but it is the truth, and i don't like seeing folks spend money when they don't have to.good luck.
