How much should it cost to repair air conditioner including the compressor?

Thanks for the reply but the cost of the compressor is what he said would cost $600 or more. He also checked the lines and said there was no leak and put freon in and then took it back out until he could put a compressor on and then he would put the freon back in. I have already paid for all that if I don't spend the money for a compressor to be put on, then basically, I have paid for nothing but a diagnosis.

diagnosing it might have saved you more than what a guess would've cost. I know it's really no consolation , but if you read enough of the questions posted , you'll see an awful lot of money spent and wasted on guesswork , before they finally post a question............And then they don't even reply to the answers they get! Hope you get your A/C resolved. Compressors (especially the better brands) aren't cheap. If the repair is done correctly , it'll probably be worth it.
