One of the tensioners broke and put my forenza out of time. What position do the tic marks on the pullies need to be in to get it back into time?

The broken tensioner may have damaged the Crank Shaft Sensor, so that is where I would begin if you now have a misfiring engine that is running out of time. This vehicle has no timing adjustment, it uses a coil pack ignition system and has NO distributor. here is an online repair manual site to help you with the Crank Sensor. I would also check for any and all codes in your system, that will help as well. http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online
streight up and make sure it is 8 degress befoe TDC or you will damage the engine.
You rock. I'll give this a go. Thank you.
These engines are zero tolarence engines meaning when something fails in the timing componets it will most likley damage the engine, trust me im going threw the same thing with mine.call suzuki they will tell you the same thing these motors are throw aways when something like this happens and yes its alot cheaper to buy a used engine then to rebuild a head, because in most cases if the valves dont bend they will break intake or exhaust possibly damaging one or more pistons.depending how much valve stem is left on the valve the piston may drive the valve stem up into the spark plug hole causing even more damage to the head.
