Need Bulb replaced for check engine light

Mechanic says that dashboard has to be pulled out to replace the bulb and it seems extreme to me so I was just making sure that is the case.

Depending which model you have, some dash removal may be needed. Takes about 30 min. to remove by a competent mechanic....but, not the whole dash just some snapped in and bolted in sections...doesn't take too long.....not that difficult to do either.
