Radiator fans wont turn off

Hi, My radiator fans will not turn off once they come on. The engine then stalls and stops. The dashboard indicator for "Check Engine" lights up besides other led's on the panel. The fans still go. The engine then turns on when I switch on the ignition but the car stops quite often. It does, however start on turning the ignition switch.
