check engine light stays on
2 Replies
There are several "modes" of diagnostics and code retrieval using several connectors under dash then reading flashes of "check engine" light. The number of flashes reference the code number. It is advisable to visit a technician familiar with Subaru's for your car.
Under the hood behind drivers side strut tower there will be 2 connectors; 1 green and 1 black. the green is to check codes and the black is to retrieve memory codes. Turn off ignition and all accessories, plug in green connector to the mate, turn ign on and count flashes. 1 long is 10 and 1 short is 1 therfore code 11 is what you have. count all longs as 10 and all shorts as 1 until it starts back at first code. Be sure to write them down because you will not remember them if there is more than 1 code. Be sure all connectors are unplugged when finished or light will stay on.
thanks that is just what i needed
