Myimpreza sport seemed to overheat while sitting but no warning light come on

This is first time no warning lights or anything come on I unloaded my kids took maybe 10 or 15 mins sitting with heat on and we drove maybe 20 min before that I went to put washer fluid in and burnt my had popping latch on just plastic air filter feed behind grill I look at coolant and everything and it reads just below full I had my wife start it and fans seemed to engage and run still no warning lights I'm dumbfounded but oil was coming out around oil filter and I know it had to be hot for that it's never happened before first time my cars every lost any oil anywhere it was just a little in the little tray / pan around oil filter but never seen it before I've had this car for 2 years and put close to 30000 miles on it since purchase on has under 64000 I've never heard of this before ac blows freezing cold like normal but 2 weeks ago I turned it on in warm weather sitting still and motor didn't engage on ac but by time we left it start working normal I thought maybe cabin air filter
