What is your question?
So after my mechanic replaced the fuel injectors on my 07 Impreza, he forgot to plug the mass air flow sensor back in and revved up the engine for several minutes in park without the sensor in the intake. When I went to leave the lot, the check engine light came on and the throttle felt sloshed so I turned around and told them, they noticed the sensor wasn't in place and plugged it in, cleared the code and drove it and thought the car was then fine. The throttle is definitely not as responsive as it was. Subarus normally have a very responsive accelerator and it's definitely not now. Were they supposed to recalibrate something when they plugged the sensor back in after revving it up so much without it?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Well, no one is perfect. I'm glad they realized the issue and were able to resolve it! In my experience, when the check engine light is reset in a Subaru, it not only clears the emissions data but also its adaptation memory. It needs to run at idle for up to 30 minutes in order to relearn adaptation. That's right, your Suby actually pays attention to how it's driven. You could try disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to reset the system. This can help the ECU relearn the correct settings while idling. If it’s still not right, a mechanic might need to do a thorough diagnostic check to get that pep back in your accelerator. Hope this helps!
