What is your question?
Forester 2019 practically new, only 30K miles on it. Studently the AC stop working. I can turn the AC on and off and air is same temp. I can't hear the compressor engaging and disengaging when I turn it on and off. Upon inspection, I did noticed the compressor clutch is engaged all the time. I need some direction in regards of the diagnostic. Is it the compressor magnetic mechanism bad? Is it low refrigerant that is causing the compressor to be engaged all the time? I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hey there, I'm Dusty from RepairPal's Car Genius team. I'm here to help! With your Forester's AC not working and the compressor clutch appearing to be engaged constantly, it sounds like you could be dealing with a few different issues. It's worth mentioning that your vehicle may have a continuously variable compressor, which can appear to be constantly engaged. This style of compressor has become more popular due to decreased engine load (leading to better fuel economy), a more consistent cabin temperature (more accurate control with constant adjustments compared to intermittent adjustments), quieter operation, and reduced wear and tear (no engagement or disengagement). Your AC may not be operating due to a number of possible factors, such as low refrigerant, a faulty compressor clutch (or compressor assembly), pressure switch issues, or electrical gremlins. Given the symptoms, a professional diagnostic is recommended to pinpoint the exact issue. They can safely check the system pressures and refrigerant levels and inspect the system for any other complications. This will help ensure an accurate diagnosis and proper repair, which will get your AC running smoothly again and keep you out of the heat.
