Hi, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That is definitely a frustrating situation. On your 2017 Subaru Forester the most common reasons a key gets stuck in the ignition are the steering wheel lock engaging and putting pressure on the ignition cylinder, or the shifter not being fully and completely seated in the park position. Before anything else try gently wiggling the steering wheel side to side while simultaneously trying to turn and remove the key, and make sure the shifter is firmly pressed into park. If those simple steps don't do the trick it could point to a worn ignition lock cylinder that needs to be replaced or even a worn key, which is not an uncommon issue. I’d recommend against forcing the key as this can cause additional damage and potentially make the repair more costly. A qualified shop can quickly assess whether it's a simple fix or something that requires a lock cylinder replacement.
