why doesn't my warning light for the low air tire come on?

I had a slow leak...then a flat...NO WARNING LIGHT EVER CAME ON! This also happened when the gas was really low-first line from the E- mpty mark.
I had a tmps test done just before the gas gauge got low/ the test inform the mechanic that everything was fine on the sensors. I don't believe it was a COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS.
