Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Are you saying you get a code P0420 for P0430, typically sharing that the catalytic converter is not operating efficiently? If this is the case, testing is required to find out what's really going on. Is it actually a catalytic converter issue? Is there an exhaust leak skewing the data? Are the pre and post cat oxygen sensors working properly? These are required inspections before going further. Note that engine performance concerns that may have been unresolved could allow unburned fuel to enter the exhaust, leading to premature failure of a catalytic converter.
