Hello, "replacing a broken engine" -- share some further information here. No, there is no software update needed just because you replaced an engine. But, what happened to the engine? What was the engine replaced with? New? Used? Remanufactured? Exact replacement for a 2010 Forester? What was replaced with the engine assembly? What diagnostic process was involved prior to replacement? Answers to those questions will help answer your question.
the original engine was said to be damaged due to broken timing belt. The car was then sold to a middle man who got someone to put in a compatible engine, said to have 70K miles on the clock. As I have to run the car uphill and stop for traffic light, the engine trembles and comes to stall at the hill top even if the blue temp. warning light has turned off
I have a suspicion that when the engine has not reached its operating temperature, the idoling speed should be kept slightly higher, that is the function of the crankshaft sensor, any comments?
