What is your question?
Is the replacement costly (spprox), and what are ramifications if left alone?

I just looked around. A flashing cruise light & check engine light for Subaru Forester , is indeed the O2 sensor. This means that there is a code set in the computers memory. The problem here is that you have 2 oxygen sensors. (Front & rear) The Upstream (front) is screwed into the exhaust manifold. This is to let the computer know what the exhaust gases coming right from the engine contain. The downstream (rear) is mounted after the catalytic converter. This is to let the computer know if the exhaust gases that have gone into the converter have been burned properly. As far as which one it is , this is only known by reading the code from the Diagnostics memory This is extracted with an OBD2 scan tool I live in New England, and Autozone here has a Direct fit , Bosch/Oxygen Sensor Part Number: 15028 ( downstream for 79.99) Mount it & plug it in. The Upstream is much more , but even you can put this in. There are 2 prices here #1. Bosch/Oxygen Sensor Part Number: 15930 ( Price: $185.99 ) #2 Denso/Oxygen Sensor Part Number: 234-9122 (Price: $139.99 ) **** NOTE****NOTE****NOTE**** NOTE*** AUTOZONE WILL SCAN THE OBD2 COMPUTER FREE OF CHARGE. They began doing this a few years back because people were more likely just to by the part right then & there. They were right.
