What is your question?
Purchased this car 10 years ago and have maintained it well--running 216,000 miles. Put in 1800.00 of maintenance last year (new tires, 2nd timing belt, major service tuneup). Check engine light is still on after replacing the idle valve 3 years ago and the seal on the gas cap last month Codes P0456, P0519). Car will need struts replaced --mechanic says they look okay=small leaks, but getting thumping noises and rough ride. Brakes are at tolerance to pass state inspection. So I guess I am looking at a bit of a cost--like the car and what I use it for (about 400- 500 mile weekly). Should I put money into it?

1800 last year in maintenance. How much in repairs? It's not very much. Even if this year you top 2400, what decent car could you buy for 200 a month?
You are absolutely right. I have been keeping this car because it fits my lifestyle and because I could not get another that has what this one has for what I paid for it originally. Have enjoyed no car payments for the last 5 years and have become attached to the Subie and have taken extremely good care of it--especially scheduled maintenance. Just trying to reason this with myself and a few friends who seem to think I would be better off with another vehicle.
