WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE OUR STARTER 4 TIMES IN 60,000 MILES. SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE ENGINE MISFIRES OR SKIP TIME AND AFTER AWHILE THE HOUSING BREAKS OFF THE STARTER

You really need to repair the misfire condition. you may also have damaged the flywheel teeth, which can be very hard on the starter engagement gear components. have the misfire condition repaired and make sure that your Timing belt is in really good shape and is installed correctly. I worked on a lot of Subarus and only rarely had to replace starters. Something, the misfires etc, is ruining them.
