Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your Forester isn’t charging the battery after installing a remanufactured alternator, we’ve got a couple suspects. First, make sure all connections are clean and tight—especially the ground wire, as a loose ground can cause all sorts of charging issues. It's also worth double-checking the alternator's output with a multimeter while the engine’s running. You should be seeing about 13.5-14.5 volts. If not, the alternator or voltage regulator could be faulty. And just a heads-up, pulling the positive cable while running isn’t a good idea—it can cause a voltage spike that can damage electrical components.
