Other than fuses and wiring, what else can I check for brake lights not working?

I recently acquired this car and the brake lights do not work. The tail lights, headlights, turn indicators, etc., all work, but not the brake lights. I have checked fuses, fuse links and wiring. It also has a D-Celerator Unified Tow Brake system. Can't find any obvious problems. What else can I check?
