What is your question?
Scion Xb 2008 stopped in the middle of the road, wouldn't re-start. Connected to a scanner: Fault code P0117: low engine coolant circuit voltage. I added coolant, tried to re-start the car: Starter spins, cranks sometimes, but car won't start. Any ideas? Am I looking at a dead engine? The engine did not overheat, according to the thermostat in the car. At wit's end, thanks.

Hello, No worries, just check for voltage from the engine coolant temperature sensor, and see if the voltage from the ECU is in spec, and the voltage to the ECU goes up as the engine temperature increases. It will still be below the voltage from the ECU. What is happening is that the ECU is sending a signal to the coolant temperature sensor, and the temperature sensor provides resistance and sends the weaker signal back to the ECU. That is how the vehicle knows what the engine temp is, because the sensor will allow more voltage through at higher temperatures. If the signal to the sensor is correct (either 12v or 5v), and the signal leaving the sensor does not raise as the temperature raises, change the sensor. However, you may also have a wring issue, and you should make sure the current is returning to the ECU.
