I have a buzzing sound under my hood that resembles that of a loose belt. it is synchronized with the RPM's. Is it a belt or God forbid the Trans.. is this common in these cars.

Sounds like one of your pulleys may make a buzzing noise. Perhaps the power steering pump or alternator pulley bearing may be noisy. Best thing to do is have the belt removed, spin each pulley manually and check for any restriction or grinding sensation. Hard to say. Good luck.
If not engine replated suggest checking the hood stops. Adjust if the hood vibrates.
