What should a alternator or generator for hybrid Hattie's cost?

What is your question?

Hybrid batteries will not stay charged. Dealer said it was the either generator or alternator that keeps these batteries charged and the cost would be $ 2400+. What is the need for this repair and is This cost valid?

That seems high. More like the price of the hybrid battery. Call this company, they may be able to help, 1-800-939-7909.

The Battery runs $1,200.00 from the dealer ( at least in 2011), as for the alternator, they run between $600.00 to $ 900.00. Unusually, a dealer item only, one could gamble on a used one, but, junk yards know there value!!
