dash lights out

Pull the stereo out and disconnect the wire that controls the light dimmer on the stereo. See if they work. If the dash lights work again you could have a short in this wire (touching ground) or something wrong in the stereo. If you don't know which wire it is check on the top or bottom of the stereo. There should be a sticker with wire labels.
