causes brake wear

It could be your brake hose is collapsed. You can try taking off wheel and have someone pump up the brake and let off the brake. Then try to turn the wheel studs by hand. If it is hard or doesn't turn, open the caliper bleeder. If it turns easier with the bleeder open then it is the brake hose.
If it is the front brake you probably have a bad flex hose from the frame to the caliper. To test, pull the wheel and see if opening the bleeder allows the rotor to turn, if it does replace the line and you should be fine. The rear may have a flex line also, test the same way.
