What is your question?
When car is cold or has cooled for three hours, it will go in reverse almost normally, ( it takes a few seconds to engage). When hot, reverse is almost non-existent, if I rev to 4000rpms it will creep back on a flat surface. (This an automatic tranny)Also when going forward and engine is hot or cold, sometimes second gear clunks-slams into gear; other times it is smooth as glass like all the other shift points. I cannot seem to find any consistency for duplicating the clunk-slam 2nd problem. These problems have continued through a fluid flush and filter change, even added the Lucas tran treatment, which added a whine from the tranny at cold/ cool tranny times at shift point and a more pronounced clunk-slam 2nd shift. What in Sam Hill is going on?!!

Valve body issue. Replace it an it should be fine after that saturns are notorious for it. I had the same problem. Google reverse slam for saturn sl2 and it should come up. There are videos how to do this look them up. Get the new one from the scrap yard this way you will be able to practice doing it on a car. It cost me 50-60 bucks. A new part will cost you near a grand so scrap yard is best. Try to look for a smashed up car because chances are the valve body in it was fine. This is this issue 1000% I know you only issue isn't reverse but this is the problem
