Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires

If the starter is not operating, this could be a battery, battery cables, starter or the starting circuit. And by the way, if the engine is not cranking over, meaning the starter is not operating, it cannot be the spark plugs or wires. Your "mechanic" would be 100% incorrect
