What is your question?

A mechanic told me I needed brake fluid flush service - Charged $90.00 for the service. A friend said that is unnecessary and that I got ripped off. What is the real story?

This is a totally valid service and should be done every 30,000 miles. $90 is a typical amount to charge.

Brake fluid absorbers moisture from the air and this moisture lowers the boiling point of the brake fluid as well as drawing moisture and contaminates around the brake hydraulic system. Periodic flushing of the brake fluid is particularly important on vehicles equipped with Anti-Lock Brake systems.
