Manual Transmission. Car in reverse, sitting still, release clutch to back up. Loud pop. Car will not move. Can shift to all gears and even sounds like transmission is engaging. Car does not move, engine revs as if it is moving. Can almost feel a little push as if the car is trying to move.

The car won't more in forward or reverse gears? You may have broken a CV joint, however, as I recall, there is a big issue with those Saturns having the differentials fail, and that could get somewhat pricey. Unfortunately, I'm leaning more towards differential failure.
