When the message is showing the gauge shows cold and the hoses feel normal. What is happening?

What trouble code does the scanner show? P0128? If so, replace the thermostat. It is stuck open. If not, let me know what code you have, and I'll make a recommendation based on that information. Most auto parts stores in Texas still will read the codes for you.
I had no codes, but changed thermostat and coolant temp sending unit and all is well now.
