What is your question?
I've had a technician check this and fix it for me. The first time it lasted for about a month. The second time the same. Now it's going on the fourth time! Any ideas of what can be done? Do I need a new gear shift or what? My mechanic is very reliable. Should I take it to a Saturn dealer and risk maybe paying thousands of dollars? Help! I'm retired and on SSI. I don't have a lot of money!
What makes this problem better or worse?
Not sure. It just seems to happen when it wants.
How long has your 2009 Saturn Outlook had this problem?
About 3 or 4 months - on and off.

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Not sure where you'd find a "Saturn Dealer" - as they are all defunct. Do you know what was previously done to resolve the problem? In my opinion, the most likely causes of the problem are a shift lever that is not securely engaging the park gear, or a shift interlock concern or a steering column or a ignition cylinder concern. A physical inspection is needed and another repair attempt.
