i pulled the code u2106- lost comm. w/trans system. what does this mean?

When you have u code means the class 2 network is having comuation problem with the computer in the network, You can not get to this with a scanner, there are testing to be done to fix this, Best advice you should send is to a shop, to some who understand the class 2 network on a car, most shop dont understand this, We do these kind of repair.
