P0727 IS THE CODE
3 Replies
This is for a CKP sensor not a speed sensor. Vehicle Application: 2003 L Series 3.0 2004 L Series 3.0 Customer Concern: Engine stalls intermittently. Code P0727. Tests/Procedures: 1. Duplicate the stalling condition. 2. When the engine will not start, test the AC voltage out from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor while cranking. There is a connector under the intake runner, at the rear of the engine. Connect to the wires from the sensor in terminals 1 and 2. 3. If the output voltage is less than 1.0 volt AC, the CKP is defective.
I looked up Vehicle Speed Sensor in my information, it doesn't show a VSS like most cars traditionally have. It shows two speed sensors on the transmission and wheel speed sensors (some cars use the brake ABS sensors to monitor road speed but if it failed you would get a ABS fault code as well). I suspect the signal is taken from the transmission output speed sensor end of the transmission looks like a two wire sensor at the very most rear of the transmission, should but out an ac signal increasing with road speed best to test it with an oscilloscope, maybe just test it with an ohm meter for continuity with sensor harness disconnected if no continuity it is bad. Parts guy is absolutely right! I just checked I thought your code was vehicle speed related it is engine speed! http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-123644.html
Saturn 2004 L300 V6 with "Anti-lock brakes" does not have, input transmission, speed sensor solenoid inside the solenoid case . .Sensor function is run by crankshaft sensor and or wheel speed sensor . on the ABS equiped model . .One transmission output speed sensor found on the outside at the very rear part of the transmission . .
