I have seen the test and certificate as low as $45.00. I would say at a Test Only an average cost would be between $55 - 70. Check around. There are bargains to be found. (I am in the East Bay, not far...so I'm familiar...)
Two years ago I paid around $60 for a smog. I thought the certificate would be cheaper. What's the difference between SMOG and test only? Thank you for responding.
The certificate itself anywhere you go is an $8.25 fee.
The station testing can be "Test Only", "Test and Repair" or "Gold Shield".
Test Only folks can only test for smogs. Test and repair can test and repair problems to get it to pass smog. Gold Shield is a specially certified smog station.
Each shop charges a labor charge along with the certificate. Each shop can charge whatever they want. Some dealerships charge over $100 for their smogs.
All shops are doing a "smog" test.
What are the best Saturn repair shops?
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2003 Saturn L300. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
