My car had a misfire so I pulled the coils out clean the oil out because it's got a bad valve cover gasket put it all back together went to start the car none of my gauges are working and it won't go in gear but if I plug in my OB to scanner everything works fine once I unplug it everything goes out again

Hello, nothing you are describing having occurred would cause the concern you are having -- so it is very difficult to guess would could be happening here. Could it be some kind of wiring concern with the circuit that supplies power to the data control link? I'm not entirely sure. This will need some professional guidance, i'm afraid. A wiring diagram showing where instrumentation and gear selection intersect with the OBD II harness is where I would start looking.
