What is your question?
It died on me while sitting at a stop sign and now it won't start. I thought it might be the fuel pump but I can hear it kick on when you turn the key on not really sure what else to check any suggestions. When I turn the key on everything comes on probably which makes me think it's not anything with the battery. The check engine light is a on but it has always been on since I got the car.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It won’t start

Is the engine cranking? The job of the battery is to power the starter so if its not cranking that is the first place to look. If the battery is ok then you need to start with basics like fuel pressure and spark. Alex
You can use a cheap spark tester like this one. Many auto parts stores have this in stock. https://www.lowes.com/pd/KD-Tools-Automotive-Ignition-Tester/50190647?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA_ONLY-_-ToolsAndHardware-_-SosHandTools-_-50190647:KD_Tools&CAWELAID=&kpid=50190647&CAGPSPN=pla&k_clickID=391f7ab5-1dbe-4862-8eb9-1100054ad744&gclid=CjwKCAiA9rjRBRAeEiwA2SV4ZSAJpy1C8J1u77lLEtJhV3jBDFdmOLAfDZ9SvWPgLlTFZR5icJoqLRoCUGoQAvD_BwE
Ok so I checked the battery and it’s ok the engine is cranking and it is getting fuel pressure. How do I go about checking for spark.
