Car wouldn't start but when you turn key on dashlights come on but gauges doesn't move

Dash lights on but gauges sitting there like they're taking a nap and no start is a classic combination that points toward a few suspects. A dead or weak battery can absolutely cause this since there may be just enough juice to light up the dash but not enough to wake up the gauges or fire the starter.
