What is your question?
Just this week I started hearing a thumping noise coming from my driver's side rear wheel area when I let off gas to make a stop. Bearings fine, differential gears fine.
What makes this problem better or worse?
happens only when take foot off gas and begin to coast.
How long has your 2005 Saab 9-7x had this problem?
One week.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! A thumping noise from the rear when you let off the gas? That’s your Saab 9-7x trying to whisper sweet nothings about a possible **driveline or suspension issue**. Since you’ve ruled out the wheel bearings and diff gears (good call), I’d take a close look at the **rear control arm bushings, trailing arms, or even the driveshaft U-joints**. When you let off the gas, the load shifts, and if something back there has too much play, it’ll make itself known with a nice rhythmic thump. Also, check the **rear axle mounts**—if one’s loose or cracked, it can cause movement under deceleration. I'd address it sooner rather than later so we don't end up with a Saab story about a damaged rear end. Get it? I'm sorry.
