Your temperature sensor will not cause an engine overheating situation, where your coolant will purge from the vehicle. Diagnostic testing is needed. It's impossible -- and not helpful -- to cover all possible scenarios in a forum like this without being able to perform hands on testing to find out what is happening with your specific vehicle.
