my 2005 boxter's battery went dead.

I managed to open the hood as per instruction. I tried to jump start my car but failed . ( using jumper cable connect to a infinity G37x) No clicking at all, just dead. Also status showing steering wheel locked. I think I need a new battery but why there is no Clicking sound when I jump start the car?
