What is your question?
Repair shop car is in says no one else can get these codes if I wanted some one else to order cluster and do repair. I saw the part on Porsche dealer website with 25% off but shop said their parts come straight from Germany. I would think Porsche dealer would get theirs from Germany as well.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! When replacing the instrument cluster in your 2004 Porsche Boxster, there are indeed specific codes involved, but it’s mostly about reprogramming the new cluster to match the car’s immobilizer and other systems. The shop is likely talking about proprietary software needed for programming, which Porsche-approved repair centers have access to. Porsche dealerships should also have direct access to the necessary parts from Germany, and that discount you're seeing could still be valid. You can always ask the dealer if they can handle the installation or if they’ll provide the part for an independent shop.
