What would cause my 06 torrent to sometimes start but after a couple min it dies

I had an engine failure. I replaced the engine and changed over as much as I could from the original engine. Sometimes when you turn the key the dash lights up but the fuel gauge and the temp gauge don't move and you hear no fuel pump sound, then when you turn the key to start there is no crank from the starter. If i wait a min or two then turn the key everything seems ok, gauges come up fuel pump turns on and the engine will start. It will run for 2-5 min then die. I try turning the key and the same thing no fuel pump sound the two gauges don't come up and the started doesn't do anything. What could cause this?

What makes this problem better or worse?

since i changed motors maybe before but the engine was bad so dont know
